High Contact = Freestyle Wrestling, Greco Roman Wrestling, Boxing, Fencing, Martial Arts, Football, Rugby, Ice Hockey

Low Contact = Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer

Individual combat sports involve a very high degree of contact and are very demanding on the body.  Recovery from training sessions and competition is a huge factor that will affect performance throughout the course of the season.  Many combat athletes struggle with seemingly insignificant injuries during the competitive training cycle that tend to mount up and cause serious problems.  The Rotex ensures proper recovery from each training session/competition by restoring the body into a position free of compensation so minor injuries will not become major ones.

Internal Hip Rotation is paramount in any martial arts activity.  Maximum power in kicking cannot be achieved if the hip and leg cannot effectively rotate inward.

Effectively training the small rotator/stabilizer muscles around the shoulder is also important.  The Rotex allows the athlete to isolate these small muscles against heavy resistance.  No other exercise or machine can duplicate the result achieved on The Rotex.  Making sure the small rotator cuff muscles are strong enough relative to the larger, competing muscles of the shoulders is the key to providing the correct blend of stability and mobility.  Click on External Shoulder Rotation to view this exercise.

The team sports listed above all involve contact but to a lesser degree than the individual combat sports.  Tackling in football and rugby, spiking in volleyball and checking in hockey can all result in mechanical and structural damage to the body, distorting the fascial system.  Use of The Rotex will help restore the correct position of the body for better recovery, which leads to greater training gains.

Internal Hip Rotation is a must in any sport where sudden rapid change of direction is involved - soccer, volleyball, football, and basketball.  The ability to internally rotate at the hip will dramatically decrease the chances of ACL/MCL injury.  Internal rotation at the hip is especially crucial in female athlete since they are 5 - 8 times more susceptible to sustain an ACL injury.

The exercises on The Rotex provide time effective and lasting training/event warm - up and recovery.  The athlete gets the feeling of a complete stretch and properly engaged muscles in a few minutes - which usually takes several more minutes of stretching, plus additional time warming - up to achieve the same feeling.  Exercise on The Rotex brings the athlete to biomechanically efficient position pre training and returns the athlete to a neutral posture post training - thereby enhancing recovery.
