In throwing sports, both hips are loaded but not at the same time.  In the wind - up, the upper body torques around the back side hip.  If the muscles of that hip are weak, it causes a tremendous amount of torque in the low back and hips.  By strengthening the small muscles of the hip using The Rotex, throwers will have the ability to fully load the back side hip in rotation producing a powerful yet smooth release of energy which gives the potential for much greater throwing speed.  Powerful hip rotators will also allow a smooth initiation of movement on the front side hip.

In hitting sports, as in throwing, both hips are loaded, but not at the same time.  In the backswing, the upper body torques around the backside hip.  If all the muscles around that hip are in the correct position and strong, more torque may be generated because they have the capacity to store maximum energy.  If the muscles around the backside hip are weak, it becomes a strain to maintain that hip in the correct position - virtually an impossibility through a whole round or game.  When this happens, the upper body feels disconnected from the power source, so it will recruit the wrong muscles to generate power.  Strong hip rotators give golfers, tennis players and baseball/softball hitters the ability to fully load the back side hip in rotation.  This provides a powerful, but smooth, release of energy which gives the potential for much greater hitting speed.

The Rotex effectively allows the athlete to train both this hip and shoulder rotators.  When these are strengthened, transmission of energy from the lower to the upper extremity will occur much more smoothly - affecting timing, coordination, and rhythm in a positive manner.  No other exercise or machine has the ability to isolate and strengthen against heavy resistance the rotator muscles of the shoulder and hip as The Rotex does.  Click on the following exercises:  Internal Hip Rotation and External Shoulder Rotation Exercise.

The exercises on The Rotex provide time effective and lasting training/event warm - up and recovery.  The athlete gets the feeling of a complete stretch and properly engaged muscles in a few minutes - which usually takes several more minutes of stretching, plus additional time warming up to achieve the same feeling.  Exercise on The Rotex brings the athlete to a biomechanically efficient position pre training and returns the athlete to a neutral posture post training - thereby enhancing recovery.
